Community Spay/Neuter
Assistance Program (SNAP)
Please read this entire page and the application form thoroughly before submitting your request for assistance.
This application is for consideration in the FCAR Spay/Neuter Assistance Program. Please note that FCAR has limited funding to assist Fayette County pet owners with spaying or neutering their companion animals. FCAR does not guarantee funding before your application is approved and reserves the right to cancel or suspend this program at any time without notice.
Your application will be reviewed by FCAR representatives, and you will be notified within 30 days of submission whether it has been approved or declined.
This program is designed to provide spay/neuter services to individuals in need, including those who are low-income, receiving government assistance, on WIC, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Social Security, seniors, students, or have animals on our Waiting List or referred through Fayette County Animal Control. We encourage everyone to apply. If we are unable to assist you, we can help you find alternative programs or services. If approved, we will provide additional details on next steps.
Please note that this program only covers the cost of spaying/neutering, and the amount covered is limited. Any fees beyond the approved amount will be the pet owner’s responsibility.
It is the pet owner's responsibility to schedule the appointment and transport the animal to the veterinarian or clinic.
*Some veterinarians require animals to be vaccinated before surgery. If your pet is not vaccinated, the veterinarian may offer vaccinations at a discounted rate. The cost of these vaccinations is the pet owner's responsibility and will not be reimbursed. If you cannot afford the vaccinations, please discuss financial assistance options with an FCAR representative.
**IMPORTANT! All cats spayed or neutered through this program will have their ears clipped unless you specifically instruct the veterinarian not to clip the ears on the day of surgery. For more information on ear clipping, click here.
Once an application is approved, the pet owner must complete the spaying/neutering within 60 days. If the procedure is not completed within this timeframe, the agreement will be void, and the application will need to be resubmitted for review. Previous approval does not guarantee approval of a resubmitted application.
